Have you ever been lost? In my early twenties, I owned a credit research company. It was my job to visit area courthouses to collect information on property sales, tax liens, and bankruptcies.
This was in the early 1990s, before the internet and when most of us couldn’t afford car phones. I had a trusty Rand McNally road atlas that safely directed me to most places, but there were a few times traversing the rural roads of eastern Tennessee where I got hopelessly lost.
When I finally let myself acknowledge how lost I was, I would find a place to stop, get out my atlas, and look at the big picture. Once I identified where I was, it was usually a simple matter of finding the right road to get me back on track.
The same is true when you get lost in life. You can get so caught up in your daily routine and the minutiae of living that you forget what is truly important. You can lose sight of your dreams and goals. At times, you may become lost in your relationships, careers, or even your own mind.
When this happens, it’s important to take a step back and look at the big picture. What is your goal? What is most important to you? Are you moving in the right direction?
It is also important to remember that you are not alone. There are people who care about you and want to help. Often, you just need to reach out and ask for help when you need it.
If you are facing in the right direction, all you have to do is keep on walking. So, take a deep breath, relax, and enjoy the journey. The best is yet to come!
Until next time, keep fighting.
