WHY IT’S IMPORTANT TO CELEBRAE wy YOUR ADAPTABILITY ch y (ae a x "YOU’RE STILL HERE, AND THAT’S PROOF OF YOUR ADAPTABILITY. BETTER YET, YOU’VE ALREADY SURVIVED 100% OF ALL THE WORST THINGS THROWN AT YOU. WITH A 100% SUCCESS RATIO, NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE." - Scott Ninneman -

I love trees. If you observe them, there’s so many things you can learn. Trees are stalwart protectors, eternal givers, and vibrant artists.

One of my favorite traits is a tree’s ability to be adaptable. Despite the hottest summers, the coldest winters, or the harshest windstorms, most trees survive. A few varieties stand fast for thousands of years.

Someone long ago named one of the oldest trees, Methuselah. They verified its age in 1957 as being at least 4,800 years old. Still listed as the oldest living tree on The Guinness World Records website, this tree knows the value of being adaptable. Imagine how much change that one tree has seen in just the last 100 years.

Amazingly, humans are even more adaptable. If the pandemic has taught us nothing else, we learned we can adjust to a new world no matter how complicated life might be. It might not be easy, but we can adapt.

You’re still here, and that’s proof of your adaptability. Better yet, you’ve already survived 100% of all the worst things thrown at you. With a 100% success ratio, nothing is impossible.

For today, think about the ways you’ve had to adapt to changing circumstances. Maybe it was a career change, a move to a faraway city, or the end of a long-term relationship. How did you learn to change? What did those lessons teach you?

You are better than a tree. Celebrate your adaptability. And if you get the chance, hug a tree.

Until next time, keep fighting.
