This insight gives me patience and helps me be kind to myself.
In the early days I was in denial. I kept getting incredibly frustrated. The more I pushed against it, the worst my mood would get.
After years of fighting against it, I came to realise that pushing against this disability was just making things worst. A lot worst.
Now I accept it I guess. I accept this card I've been dealt. If I just took a cast off my leg, I wouldn't expect to go running that night. If I was diabetic, I wouldn't get frustrated at my body's inability to regulate sugar. Why is this any different?
When I get in a low mood, I tend to reach for anything that brings a little joy. Easier said than done with a depressed mind. Watching comedies is one of my favourite ways to get through depression sessions. As is meditation / mindfulness, my way of sitting out the BS my mind comes up with.
