learned for managing Bipolar is this. When | give something my attention, I'm exchanging energy. The movies we play out in our minds eye are everything. Some things drain me but some fill me up. (more in caption) @ridingbipolar

I make a habit of intentionally and gently steering my attention towards what is wanted, not the absence of it. This fills me up with plenty of feel good energy.

If I'm feeling depressed or with racing thoughts for example, I do my best to become and stay present. Some people may call it mindful or a state of non-resistance.

In any case, presence will always give me a break from thinking and a chance to restore my energy levels back to center. After all, the mind can only focus on one thing at a time.

This is possible even when delusional, even if the stillness is fleeting. I clearly remember sitting in a cafe, having I mindful coffee whilst feeling like I'm on the truman show surrounded by actors. Even in those circumstances.

Becoming anchored in the here and now instinctively, has really been the game changer. It gives me resilience against the extreme effects of Bipolar.

A favourite technique of mine to clear my mind is by listening intently to birds for a little. Either sat outside or with the window open.

No judgments. No inner discussion. Just listening fully without expectation.

The mind will wonder. When I become aware of that, I go back to listening fully. Rinse and repeat. An alarm is also useful, so that I don't have to think about time.

If you think people who follow you would be interested in this post, share this on your story. It would mean a lot to me too. As would likes and saves tbf.
