For the last month I've been deeply depressed. All I wanted to do was lay in my bed and wait it out.
I held onto blind faith that it'll pass and I'll be able to catch up. Blind faith because of how far fetched that can seem when the black clouds come over.
I had so much brain fog. I'm a software engineer for the most part. So I do some really technical stuff. Stuff I absolutely love to do when stable or a little hyper. However my mind just stalled.
Reality is that we can't bargain with this illness. Sometimes we're just depressed. We're not doing anything wrong.
All we can do is reach for things that'll lift our spirits. Even when we only intellectually know that it helps us feel better. Most of the time, when in that mood, I don't "feel" like doing a damn thing.
My favourite things to do during these periods are comedies, inspirational true stories, 2hr fast paced walk and meditation.
Also, anything to learn and practice for fun. Mine is magic card tricks via YouTube and general self development. Anything is better than boredom.
